The second year class of the Master of Science HES-SO in Business Administration, orientation Entrepreneurship took part in a four-day study trip to Katowice, Poland.
From April 16 to 20, the students of the MSc BA, major in Entrepreneurship had a busy schedule of interesting excursions and meetings in the economically active area of Katowice, Poland. In a friendly atmosphere and always in an entrepreneurial spirit, the students had the chance to take part in a program highlighting the sustainable approach and social impact of several local SMEs.
After a guided tour of the city center and a delicious lunch on arrival, the second day was rich in meetings and visits, including a presentation of the activities of the European Digital Innovation Hub, visits to Guido Mines and Technopark Gliwice, and dinner with Janusz Dramski, startup officer and head of the Medtech Hub in Zabrze.
Days 3 and 4 were punctuated by a presentation of the KSEZ (Katowice Special Economic Zone) organization and a Q&A session, a visit to the headquarters of the KSSENON Business Accelerator and a case study at the University of Economics on a local family business and student pitches of their own entrepreneurial projects.
Gastronomy and culture were also part of the trip, with a visit to the Wydarzenia Philharmonic Opera House and the opportunity to attend a concert, as well as dinner in a renowned restaurant in the Nikiszowiec district, a former mining district.
In conclusion, it was a study trip rich in exchanges, observations and important for the development of international communication, from networking to negotiation. A second study trip for students of the Master of Science HES-SO in Business Administration, Entrepreneurship orientation is planned to Portugal in May.
The Katowice Special Economic Zone (Katowicka Specjalna Strefa Ekonomiczna S.A. – KSEZ) was established under the Regulation of the Council of Ministers of 18 June 1996 in order to support and advance restructuring processes, as well as to generate employment in the region.
