The School of Management Fribourg is one of 73 public buildings selected by the State Council to implement a pilot project providing free access to sanitary products.
At the beginning of the week, a sticker with a sanitary towel logo appeared on the doors of the women's toilets on the 4th, 3rd, 1st floors, and ground floor of the School of Management Fribourg. The sticker indicates that free menstrual products are available there to anyone who needs them, and stainless steel dispensers have been installed. Both the sanitary products and packaging are made of organic cotton and are designed to respect privacy and the environment.
The distribution of sanitary products decided by the State Council is the result of a postulate submitted by MPs Favre-Morand and Fagherazzi requesting that the possibility of providing free sanitary products in educational establishments and public and sports facilities be investigated. Following a pilot project, the State Council has decided to make sanitary protection available in 73 public buildings across the canton from 2024. The City of Fribourg, which is involved in the pilot project, plans to implement this measure for the start of the 2023-2024 academic year.
