IELTS exams

IELTS is an English language test for study, migration or work. Over three million people take this test every year. IELTS is accepted by more than 11,000 employers, universities, schools and immigration bodies around the world.

The test measures English language ability from levels B1-C2. The reading, listening and writing parts of the test are taken on a computer in an official IELTS test centre in Lausanne or Bern. The speaking part of the test is done in person with one candidate and one examiner.

IELTS at the HEG-FR:

All students in the HEG Bachelor’s programme will take internationally recognised exams in their fourth semester to certify their level: TELC for German, DFP for French and IELTS (advanced levels) and TELC (intermediate levels) for English.

Preparation courses will be offered in person once a year for the Bachelor’s students. An independent study preparation course for the IELTS test will be offered every month starting in February 2023. This independent study course is available to students who would like to take the IELTS before the fourth semester (for example, because they need a language certificate to study abroad), students who cannot attend the in-person preparation course, or other members of the HES-SO who would like to take the IELTS exam.
