Alain Bloch was Scientific Director of HEC Entrepreneurs master degree from 2007 to 2021. He is also the co-founder of the MSc X-HEC Entrepreneurs, joint degree between École Polytechnique and HEC Paris since 2018, and of HEC Family Business Center, in 2004. He was full professor of the marketing, sales and retail chair at the french Conservatoire National des Arts et Métiers (an original and unique, since 1794, french public university for executive education) from 1995 to 2015. Graduate Engineer from the french military academy Ecole Spéciale Militaire de Saint-Cyr, PhD in management and information systems from Paris Dauphine University, he was also a director of the Société Française de Management and chaired the scientific council of the Institut de Recherche Stratégique de l'Ecole Militaire (IRSEM) from 2011 to 2015.
His own experience as an entrepreneur and manager (he was especially founder and CEO until 1995 of "L'Annuaire Soleil", the first competitor of the Yellow Pages of the former France Télécom, now Orange) led him to focus his research on innovation, entrepreneurship, leadership and organizational resilience. He has published a dozen books, including recently “Innovation & Entrepreneurship. From the Idea to the Organization" (Eska Publishing 2011) collective edited with Sophie Morin Delerm, "La stratégie du propriétaire" (Village Mondial Pearson 2012) with Nicolas Kachaner and Sophie Mignon followed by a trilogy on the resilience and sustainability of organizations , "L’éternité en héritage" (Economica, 2nd ed. 2016) with Isabelle Lamothe, "Entrepreneurs, magiciens and prophètes" (Hermann, 2019) with François Moreau and "La pierre et l’édifice" (Economica, 2022) with Erwan Nabat. He is also Honorary President of Bankruptcy Chamber at the Commercial Court of Paris, where he served until 2014, and actually board member of several family businesses.
