Partnerships and commitments for sustainability

Partnerships for sustainability

The areas of sustainable development, corporate social responsibility and social entrepreneurship have fascinated HEG-FR for several years now. The HEG is continuing its strategy, in particular investments in the field of sustainability, whether in the field of research or teaching, as well as the qualitative development of our school.

In order to give more weight to this strategic orientation, at the end of 2021, the HEG-FR took over, as part of its thirtieth anniversary, the Center for Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability (CCRS) as a partner institute.

HEG-FR’s carbon footprint

In recent years, we have undertaken various investments in the field of sustainability, both in research and teaching. We have also established our own carbon accounting.

The carbon accounting of the School of Management Fribourg was carried out during the spring of 2022 and covered all of the HEG's activities over the year 2021, the health situation of which, due to COVID 19, strongly influenced the volume of activity. Total emissions are 144 tCO2 and the main sources of emissions are commuting (55%), heating of buildings (18%), waste (12%) and office automation (11%). Per employee, the impact is 2 tCO2/FTE, which corresponds to an average impact of a service company in Switzerland.

Setting emissions reduction targets and implementing an action plan are the next steps which will enable the HEG to contribute to respecting the Confederation's commitments.
